"It is the client who knows what hurts, what directions to go, what problems are crucial, what experiences have been deeply buried." ~ Carl Rogers
How I work
There are many different approaches to counselling and psychotherapy. Trying to make sense of this complicated landscape to decide what type of therapy might suit you can feel overwhelming. I hope the information provided here will give you a sense of how I work, and I am happy to answer any questions you may have.

I offer person-centred therapy grounded in the work of Carl Rogers, a pioneer of humanistic psychology and psychotherapy. Rogers believed that we all possess the wisdom to know what is causing us pain and the resources to move forward with our lives in healthy ways, but this capacity for self-direction can get blocked by our personal circumstances, life events, relationships and cultural contexts.
A relationship with a genuine, accepting and understanding therapist can free us to reconnect with ourselves and to find our own solutions to our problems. This philosophy is at the heart of my therapy practice.

I believe that what matters most is how you perceive your inner world and understand yourself, so we will work at the pace and depth you choose. My intention is not to analyse or advise you, but to listen to you and to accompany you with genuine sensitivity and acceptance in your exploration of your thoughts, feelings and behaviours. I hope this can support you to process painful feelings, gain new insights and deepen your trust in yourself to live a more authentic and satisfying life.
